The Unlucky Clover-Part 3-Finale
9160292 Age 12
Michigan, United States
I was in my sofa bed, watching SportsCenter and eating cheerios soaked in chocolate milk when the fact that nothing bad had happened to me (except the noodles incident: but nobody can prove that I did that!) since the cake beat down three days ago. Maybe that clover thing was just in my head. Like a G6, like a G6. My alarm clock blared, and I spilled my cheerios. Great. Now there were two stains on the bed. I got up and brushed my teeth and got ready for school. On the bus I played Oregon Trail on my IPod, and listened to my playlists. It was just a regular morning, but soon I was going to find out different. Ringggggg. The bell shrieked as school started. I had first hour, second hour, then third hour. A normal routine, but something wasn’t right. During fifth hour we had a test, and my stomach was aching.
“Mrs. Perils, can I go to the bathroom?” I asked. She rolled her eyes and approved. I hobbled down to the restroom as quickly as I could. I sat down at the nearest stall, which was freezing cold but I sucked it up and looked at the word covered wall. Suddenly, a piercing sound ripped through the molecules of the air. I panicked at first, but then thought, duh, a fire drill. I will just go after I am done taking the Browns to the Super Bowl. I sat in there for a minute, finishing up. I smelled smoke, and suddenly I knew what was going on.
“Holy Franklin Delano!!!” I exclaimed. I bit back a curse. This was really happening. I ran out of the stall, sweat dripping from my face from the intense heat. I turned the corner and pulled up my pants. I ran shouting, hoping someone would find me. Smoke in my eyes, I stumbled down a hallway. I coughed and saw something terrible. The fire, blazing and frightening, had spread across the whole school and was dancing on everything. It was like staring in to an evil void, one about to engulf me into its madness and insanity. I felt like a prisoner. Trapped on an island, alone in thoughts, and completely lost. At least I thought I was I alone. There was a second grader on the ground, screaming, while fire engulfed his clothes. I crawled over there as quick as I could, and put the fire on him out. I rolled on my stomach, delirious from the smoke and ash. My vision was fuzzy, but I could see something. I saw chairs burning to wood chips, expensive equipment exploding, and everything I had gotten used to in the last few days melting to liquid. I closed my eyes, and I imagined I was in a field with all the pretty bunnies and birds, with children playing football, and elders taking a power walk. I could only see blurred light now. Light! I was saved, hopefully. My vision was completely fuzzy. The last thing I saw was dark figures coming toward me, reaching out. Then I blacked out.
It was all coming back to me. The stretcher was as hard as rock. Kyle was pacing. Mom was yelling. I puked on my shorts. Here comes the oxygen mask. Mmmm…. Peachy. I can’t believe it! I thought. That stupid plant ruined my life and almost killed me! Then I went out cold.
